We remember Kirby Puckett (1960-2006)
He broke with the Twins in 1984 and became one of the best in the game: .318 career batting average, 2,304 hits & 1,085 RBI in 1,783 games.
It’s still hard to believe that Puckett retired in 1995 because of an illness. He was only 34.
Like most baseball fans, I loved Kirby Puckett baseball, i.e. the hustle that he brought to every game. He was a great player who left us some wonderful memories, such as a great catch and extra inning homer to win game 6 of the very exciting ’91 series.
Puckett was selected to the Hall of Fame in 2001. Thanks for all of the memories!
