Sign Petition Against California AB 101
I am cross-posting a message from my friend and colleague, Tammi Rossman-Benjamin of the Amcha Initiative regarding California’s Assembly Bill 101 regarding mandated Ethnic Studies. The link comes with a request to add our name to a petition to the California State Legislature to repeal this bill. Though the bill has been passed, it still requires funding to implement it.
I won’t repeat all that is in Tammi’s letter, but suffice to say I share her concerns about how it will contribute to an increase in anti-Semitism in our schools. It seems to me that this will open the barn door for activist teachers to present the material in any way they choose, including inserting all the anti-Israel material they want, representing Jews as all being “privileged white Zionists supporting Israel’s ‘genocide’against Palestinians, etc.)
