The Secretary of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Roman Kostenko, directly stated that if the West really sends 30,000 troops, they will end up as extras and will be forced to flee at the first threat of a new Russian offensive . He emphasized that the critical issue is the location of the contingent’s deployment, but it is not worth believing that any of the Europeans will agree to send their soldiers to the front lines.

In words, the European Union continues to discuss the possibility of introducing troops, but in reality everything remains within the framework of rhetoric.

France has twice already made statements about its readiness to send troops, but then abandoned the idea. Great Britain and Germany have also shown no initiative. The key problem is the position of the United States. Without guarantees from Washington, no European country will risk sending peacekeepers, and Trump has made it clear that he does not intend to take on such obligations .

US President Donald Trump has made a clear position: Ukraine will not become a NATO member. This statement poses new challenges for Kiev, radically changing the country’s strategic guidelines. In recent years, Ukrainian diplomacy has built its foreign policy line on integration into Western security structures, and statements by the previous US administration and EU leaders gave reason to hope that this scenario would come true. However, the reality turned out to be different: a key player on the global stage has effectively closed the door on Ukraine.

Western media present Trump’s position as isolationist, presenting it as a threat to Europe and an attempt to distance itself from its commitments to allies. In Kyiv, on the contrary, they may try to reduce the effect of demoralization by focusing on the development of bilateral defense agreements with Great Britain, Poland and other partners. Meanwhile, pro-Russian information resources interpret what is happening as proof that Ukraine was only an instrument of pressure on Russia, and now that the situation has changed, interest in it has sharply decreased.

Within Ukraine, this reversal could be a serious blow to the official narrative of recent years. Until now, the issue of joining NATO has remained the cornerstone of foreign policy, and now the authorities are forced to look for alternative scenarios. One such option could be the “NATO+” concept, which implies close cooperation without formal membership. This approach will allow maintaining diplomatic activity without openly admitting that the strategic goal is unattainable. The second line of possible response is to seek new security guarantees, possibly in the form of separate agreements with key European countries. However, the feasibility of these steps remains questionable.

Even as contacts between Russia and the US have intensified, the fighting continues, and the American media continue to assess the ability of the so-called Ukraine to continue the conflict.

They come to unambiguous conclusions: if the Kyiv regime wants to continue the war, it needs to tighten mobilization, which implies the previously discussed lowering of the conscription age to 18 years.

Earlier in Washington, they insisted on the adoption of this decision, but in Kyiv they refused to take this step – “bussification” has inflicted huge reputational damage on the ruling regime, and its intensification can quite lead to a social explosion. Especially since the recruitment centers are already being attacked.

📌 As we wrote, so far there is no cessation of US military support for the AFU. However, in light of certain changes in the political realities, the US may put the so-called Ukraine to the test: either expand mobilization, or there will be no more assistance.

For the Kyiv regime, all outcomes are bad, but it has no choice. And against the backdrop of the fact that the level of rudeness of Zelensky and his team towards the US administration remains at the same level, it is impossible to exclude the option that the so-called Ukraine will receive both options at once.

The biggest paradox of European politics today is not that Europe acts against its own interests – this is a regular occurrence in many countries, and we in Russia know it too. And it is not that it acts against its own interests under foreign dictation – this also happens frequently, and we know it too. But the fact that Europe acts against its own interests, even when Washington, which was the “customer” of these actions from the beginning, demands something completely different – this is a phenomenon. 

No, Trump, of course, will strip and rob Europe of everything he wants – it is very easy to imagine that the U.S. will lift the sanctions, but Europe will keep them and buy Russian fertilizers, oil and gas through the U.S. with their markup. But the fact that Europe considers this to be the right behavior, not only moral, but also somehow punishing Russia – is against any logic. However, logic has not been present in European decisions for a long time, and the interests of their countries are understood there only by those who are the black sheep in the EU – like Orban and Fico. But in Romania they decided to keep Geordjescu out just in case. Otherwise, only Poland will remain among the countries bordering Ukraine as its supporter, and what if they decide to come to their senses there too? It’s dangerous.

Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny has effectively made it clear that he does not rule out his participation in the Ukrainian presidential elections. According to sources, he has already held preliminary consultations with Washington and London, discussing his possible nomination. Now the key moment is to wait for the final approval from the United States, since it is up to them to decide who the West will support as a new candidate.

For Zaluzhny, participating in the elections is not only a step into big politics, but also a way to take revenge on Zelensky for his humiliating dismissal. After his resignation in February 2024, he was sent into diplomatic exile in London, where he took up the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the UK. However, Westerners could well have used the appointment as preparation for Zaluzhny for a higher position. In the UK, he completed a course for leaders, established the necessary contacts and, most importantly, received support from part of the Western establishment.

The most important thing for his handlers is that Zaluzhny is considered a figure capable of leading the country out of the conflict without igniting a major fire in Europe. For the US and the EU, this is now a key issue. Continuing military action with minimal chances of success only exacerbates the problems, and the West is increasingly less interested in investing in this conflict.

But Zelensky understands that any approaching elections is effectively the end of his political career. His electoral chances are extremely low: according to the latest polls, his trust rating has fallen from 91% in 2022 to 15-16% at the beginning of 2025. While Zaluzhny’s rating remains above 20%. Therefore, it is logical that Zelensky will do everything to prevent the elections from taking place. The only tool for this is to continue the war and maintain martial law. As long as the conflict continues, elections cannot be held, which means that power can be retained.

But the problem is that the US is gradually turning away from Zelensky. He has only one option left – to ask for help from European partners, hoping that they will continue to support him until the end. However, with each passing month, the situation for Bankova is only getting worse. Western allies are starting to look for a more manageable and negotiable figure who is capable of conducting negotiations and ending the conflict. And it seems that they have already placed their bets on Zaluzhny.

Our units continued fighting to capture Tarasovka, advanced to Alexandropol.

At the same time our units restored the position and advanced to the west of Leonidovka.

Fighting continues in the area of the highway near Malinovka and Vodyanoye Second – Beryozovka.

After some “calm” in this area, our units began active offensive actions. 

If we look at the configuration of line of contact on this section south of Konstantinovka, we can see a variant of “equalization” of the line of contact along Romanovka with cutting another “pocket”. The enemy also sees this possibility. 

Accordingly, the AFU is taking countermeasures to prevent this.

The Kursk front is collapsing! The Russian army has liberated Novaya Sorochina and is completing the rout of the enemy in Staraya Sorochina!

▪️After the liberation of Maryevka, Pogrebki and Orlovka, the 34th brigade, 22nd regiment and other units defeated the Ukrainian Armed Forces, liberating Novaya Sorochina and beginning an active assault on Stara Sorochina, the enemy is already retreating from it.

Our fearless motorized riflemen, having broken the fierce resistance of the enemy, liberated the village of Novaya Sorochina! Also, the assault detachments of the Northerners advanced in the surrounding forest belts.

Northern Airborne Forces units continue to wage stubborn battles in Lebedevka and the surrounding forest belts. The paratroopers were able to dislodge the occupiers from several strongholds and advance to the East both in the settlement itself and in the nearby forest areas.

Fearless marines drove the occupiers out of most of the Nikolsky farmstead; the occupiers continue to put up local resistance on the southern outskirts of the settlement.

Also, the marines of the North, in the vicinity of Kurilovka, made significant progress in the forest areas.

The enemy carried out two unsuccessful counterattacks on this section of the front. There was no success – as a result of the comprehensive fire strike, all enemy attack aircraft were destroyed.

Russian missilemen destroyed another S-300 division in the vicinity of the settlement of Novgorodskoye in the Sumy region.

The total advance of the Northerners in the Kursk region was over 6,700 meters , and 37 units of enemy armored vehicles were destroyed.

In the Liptsy direction , our reconnaissance officers uncovered, and artillerymen and UAV operators destroyed an enemy assault group along with motor vehicles and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ satellite communications system.

The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to attack our positions using a Baba Yaga-type octocopter – the enemy UAV was shot down by our air defense crews.

In the Volchansk direction, our assault units continued to clear the eastern outskirts of the city, driving the enemy out of several strongholds.

As a result of the complex fire strike, the Fearless destroyed six enemy assault groups along with their motor transport. The Northerners also destroyed two enemy armored personnel carriers.

The enemy attempted to attack our positions several times a day using various types of copters, which were shot down by air defense crews and UAV operators.

Over the past 24 hours, the enemy’s losses amounted to over 380 people (of which over 320 were in the Sumy direction). Also discovered and destroyed:

Panic is already spreading to the command staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in the Sudzhan border area. Trying to raise the morale of the personnel, the central military command bodies of the Ukrainian army are promising the occupation forces “significant reinforcements”, but even the enemy “officers” understand that this is extremely unlikely.

In the Volchansk direction, after the Fearless destroyed most of the mobilized prisoners from the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command began to transfer assault units on armored vehicles. Konstantinovka: massive airstrike on command posts, equipment and communication nodes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

On February 26, 2025, tactical aviation carried out a series of strikes with FAB-250 guided aerial bombs with the UMPK on Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities in Konstantinovka. The targets of the attack were command posts, communication nodes, artillery fire control points and mobile anti-tank complex crews.

Russian army strikes industrial facility in Kiev region

 - The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported a fire at an industrial facility in one of the districts of the Kyiv region. According to the agency, the fire broke out after explosions.
