Stewart Best (7/9/2020): Salvation 101 – How It Really Works! — What Does the Bible Say is MANDATORY for Salvation?

SALVATION 101 SERIES

For those who still cling to the FAITH and BELIEF ONLY GOSPEL and think that anything added to that is an anathema and a “work” of some kind one might want to look further. This one verse proves what all the verses have already told us; and that is, OBEDIENCE to the commands of Christ is NOT some form of “work” or legalism. In this one verse of Scripture we find and verify that ASK, SEEK, KNOCK, STRIVE and CONTINUE in the Doctrines of Christ is mandatory for salvation.

^{John 1:12-13}

¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

¹³ Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

The key words here we need to look at are POWER, BECOME, and BELIEVE. These three unlock the real truth of the STRAIT GATE and NARROW WAY.

POWER:

G1849

ἐξουσία – exousia – ex-oo-see’-ah

From G1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence: – authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.

This is not just any power, but a DIVINE POWER, a Divine ABILITY that is granted to all those who received Him and even to those who just “believe” in Him as Messiah. This special POWER is given by Christ to enter in at the STRAIT GATE and walk the NARROW WAY unto LIFE ETERNAL. Remember that Jesus told us that no man could come to Him unless the FATHER “DRAWS” HIM TO CHRIST. It would appear that this “power” is from God the Father.

BECOME:

G1096

Γίνομαι – ginomai – ghin’-om-ahee

A prolonged and middle form of a primary verb; to cause to be (“gen” -erate), that is, (reflexively) to become (come into being), used with great latitude (literally, figuratively, intensively, etc.): – arise be assembled, be (come, -fall, -have self), be brought (to pass), (be) come (to pass), continue, be divided, be done, draw, be ended, fall, be finished, follow, be found, be fulfilled, + God forbid, grow, happen, have, be kept, be made, be married, be ordained to be, partake, pass, be performed, be published, require, seem, be showed, X soon as it was, sound, be taken, be turned, use, wax, will, would, be wrought.

The long and short of this means that if ONE CONTINUES, IF ONE ASKS, SEEKS, KNOCKS, STRIVES AND CONTINUES, THAT SOUL WILL “BECOME” A SON OF GOD. Remember when Jesus said this:

John 8:31-32

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Notice the huge CONDITIONAL word “IF”. Also we need to look at the future tense of the word SHALL. First, the word IF:

ἐάν- ean – eh-an’

From G1487 and G302; a conditional particle; in case that, provided, etc.; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty: – before, but, except, (and) if, (if) so, (what-, whither-) soever, though, when (-soever), whether (or), to whom, [who-] so (-ever). See G3361.

So the IF means that in the case that you DO THIS, then you shall have (future tense) the REWARD, and that reward is to KNOW JESUS CHRIST and who He really is.

Now the word SHALL:

G2532

Καί – kai – kahee

Apparently a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so, then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words: – and, also, both, but, even, for, if, indeed, likewise, moreover, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yea, yet.

Basically, it means that IF YOU DO THIS, you SHALL OBTAIN the prize of ETERNAL LIFE!! Nothing could be more clear if you study it out. It reminds one of the Old Testament saying of a LITTLE HERE, A LITTLE THERE, PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT, that is, it (the doctrine) accumulates, and it leads on TO THE TRUTH.

The word BELIEVE:

G4100

Πιστεύω – pisteuō -pist-yoo’-o

From G4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), that is, credit; by implication to entrust (especially one’s spiritual well being to Christ): – believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.

In the Book of Hebrews we are told that we must FIRST OF ALL, BELIEVE THAT GOD IS, and then we are to DILIGENTLY SEARCH HIM OUT:

Hebrews 11:6 (a 9-11 in Code)

⁶ But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Let’s take a look at the word DILIGENTLY:

G1567

ἐκζητέω – ekzēteō – ek-zay-teh’-o

From G1537 and G2212; to search out, that is, (figuratively) investigate, crave, demand, (by Hebraism) worship: – en- (re-) quire, seek after (carefully, diligently).

Now let’s turn to another verse of Scripture that verifies what we have just spoken about:

Revelation 3:10-11

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹¹ Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

We need to take a look at the words KEPT, PATIENCE, KEEP, FROM and TEMPTATION, and DWELL. It will also prove that SALVATION requires a continuance of FAITH and BELIEF, and a continued SEARCH for the TRUTH.

KEPT: (KEPT THE WORD)

G5083

Τηρέω – tēreō – tay-reh’-o

From τηρός teros (a watch; perhaps akin to G2334); to guard (from loss or injury, properly by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from G5442, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from G2892, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), that is, to note (a prophecy; figuratively to fulfil a command); by implication to detain (in custody; figuratively to maintain); by extension to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively to keep unmarried): – hold fast, keep (-er), (ob-, pre-, re) serve, watch.

This refers to THE DOCTRINES OF CHRIST, HIS WORDS, and so it is obvious that the ONE WHO STAYS IN THE WORD, that is, CONTINUES with steadfastness in the search for TRUTH, and because that soul DID THAT, Jesus will ALSO keep that one FROM THE HOUR OF TRIAL.

PATIENCE:

G5281

ὑπομονή – hupomonē –hoop-om-on-ay’

From G5278; cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy: – enduring, patience, patient continuance (waiting).

Remember the parable of the sower and the one with patience endures to the revelation of Christ?

KEEP:

G5083 – τηρέω – tēreō – tay-reh’-o

From τηρός teros (a watch; perhaps akin to G2334); to guard (from loss or injury, properly by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from G5442, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from G2892, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), that is, to note (a prophecy; figuratively to fulfil a command); by implication to detain (in custody; figuratively to maintain); by extension to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively to keep unmarried): – hold fast, keep (-er), (ob-, pre-, re) serve, watch

So then if one will keep His Words with patience, Jesus will keep that one FROM the hour of temptation and they will not be subject to any of it. This period of time, which appears to be 1260 days is a time of TEMPTATION and notice it is for those who DWELL upon the Earth.

The word FROM:

G1537

ἐκ, ἐξ – ek    ex – ek, ex

A primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence motion or action proceeds), from, out (of place, time or cause; literally or figuratively; direct or remote): – after, among, X are, at betwixt (-yond), by (the means of), exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for (-th), from (among, forth, up), + grudgingly, + heartily, X heavenly, X hereby, + very highly, in, . . . ly, (because, by reason) of, off (from), on, out among (from, of), over, since, X thenceforth, through, X unto, X vehemently, with (-out). Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.

This is obviously another statement from the Lord that He will keep His true disciples (who continue with patience in His Word) from the HOUR OF TEMPTATION. There are two “hours” listed in Scripture – the hour of temptation and the hour of judgment.

While one could argue about all of this, it appears that the HOUR OF TEMPTATION or TRIAL is the opening of the SEAL JUDGMENTS, and of course, we know that Jesus Christ OPENS THE SEALS. It appears that this hour is to TRY THEM THAT DWELL UPON THE EARTH and give them ONE MORE CHANCE TO REPENT and turn to Christ for salvation.

The word “TEMPTATION”:

G3986

Πειρασμός – peirasmos – pi-ras-mos’

From G3985; a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity: – temptation, X try.

Humanity is given a choice during 3.5 years of trial and tribulation. Turn to God and Christ or reject it all and go into perdition. The vast majority of humanity appears to go to perdition.

The word DWELL we have gone over before, but it means permanent dwellers, those of the Earth, those that are OF THIS WORLD.

G2730

Κατοικέω – katoikeō – kat-oy-keh’-o

From G2596 and G3611; to house permanently, that is, reside (literally or figuratively): – dwell (-er), inhabitant (-ter).

Remember when John says that THEY (ANTICHRISTS) ARE OF THE WORLD and the world hears them? That is, the New WORLD ORDER! These are all that refused to ASK,SEEK, KNOCK, STRIVE AND LABOR FOR THE TRUTH. These are they that focus totally upon THIS WORLD and the THINGS OF THIS WORLD. They are only concerned with careers, entertainment, hobbies, or whatever their field of endeavor is. THEY ARE EARTH DWELLERS.

The hour of judgment:

Revelation 14:7

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

This appears to be different than the Hour of Trial or Temptation. This appears to be AFTER the SEAL JUDGMENTS and we now enter another 3.5 years of TRUMPET and BOWL JUDGMENTS.

JUDGMENT:

G2920

Κρίσις – krisis – kree’-sis

(Subjectively or objectively, for or against); by extension a tribunal; by implication justice (specifically divine law): – accusation, condemnation, damnation, judgment.

Obviously, if one ESCAPES the Hour of Trial, then one would also escape the Hour of Judgment, in which humanity is all but destroyed. What we have just studied is then confirmed by this:

Luke 21:34-36

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

³⁵ For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

³⁶ Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

I want to focus upon the words SNARE, DWELL, ESCAPE & STAND

If we are serious students of Scripture, then it should be obvious that KEEP FROM and ESCAPE are essentially the same concept. That is a REMOVAL from Earth during the HOUR OF TEMPTATION and THE HOUR OF JUDGMENT.

The removal of the Church comes totally out of the blue, which means that only those really watching will be looking for it and would see the precursor signs. These signs are now all around us. The removal of the Church is close at hand.

SNARE:

G3803

Παγίς – pagis – pag-ece’

From G4078; a trap (as fastened by a noose or notch); figuratively a trick or stratagem (temptation): – snare

This is a TRAP for humanity, a stratagem that humanity walks into. The meaning of stratagem is interesting:

Definition of stratagem

1a : an artifice or trick in war for deceiving and outwitting the enemy

b : a cleverly contrived trick or scheme for gaining an end

2 : skill in ruses or trickery

So then, the Lord has laid a SNARE ONLY FOR THOSE WHO DWELL UPON THE EARTH. We could say “THEY and THEM.” It is sudden destruction that comes upon THEY AND THEM, not the believers in Christ.

So the snare is the NEW WORLD ORDER, AND ALONG SIDE THE NEW WORLD ORDER is THE RAPTURE OF THE BRIDE OF CHRIST.

How so? The New World Order, according to the United Nations itself, is the LAST HOPE FOR MANKIND. When “THEY” (the Earth dwellers) say “PEACE AND SECURITY.” The cries are now heard the world over, we must UNITE, we must forge all of this TOGETHER, we must become ONE.

“The Real Hope for Peace”

The UN has not produced—and cannot produce—world peace. It was fatally flawed from the very beginning. As the Creator God inspired the prophet Isaiah to record, 27 centuries ago, “the way of peace they have not known” (Isaiah 59:8). Outside the UN headquarters building in New York, there is a sculpture of a workman beating a sword into a plowshare. Inspired by Isaiah 2:4, this theme embodies the highest hopes and dreams of some of the UN’s founders. Sixty years (NOW 75), after its foundation, however, what has come of the UN’s lofty ambitions? Even its ambitious and idealistic founders would have to call it a failure by any objective measure.

What is the real way to peace? The prophet Isaiah explained: “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever” (Isaiah 32:17). Simply put, peace is a byproduct of righteousness. It is impossible to separate the two. What is righteousness? “For all Your commandments are righteousness” declares the psalmist (Psalm 119:172). The commandments of the Creator God outline the way to love God and the way to love our neighbor. This is the only approach to life that will result in peace among nations or between individuals. Mankind simply cannot construct its own way to peace, apart from God and His laws.” – The United Nations: Man’s Last, Best Hope?

We have gone over the word DWELL, and so the strategy of the Lord is to hide or keep secret the actual truth of the Matrix and that the knowledge of good and evil is the cause of all of their problems from the Earth dwellers. This appears to be the SNARE itself. It is only known to those who have searched out the real truth behind the Matrix and who have been OBEDIENT to the commands of Jesus Christ.

The Earth Dwellers, and now most Christians, KNOW NOTHING about the real truth behind who Jesus really is or what his true message was. The SNARE, then, is mankind’s attempt to find PEACE AND SECURITY on his own. He does not realize he is a “broke machine” and needs repair. The Lord lets them try to build their New World Order, which is doomed to failure, but will appear as THE FINAL SOLUTION to fix everything.

ESCAPE:

ἐκφεύγω – ekpheugō – ek-fyoo’-go

From G1537 and G5343; to flee out: – escape, flee.

Apparently a primary verb; to run away (literally or figuratively); by implication to shun; by analogy to vanish: – escape, flee (away).

It seems that the true believer who has been OBEDIENT to the commands of the Lord to seek Him out and FIND HIM will be EXEMPT FROM or KEPT FROM this HOUR OF TEMPTATION. So how is that accomplished?

The RAPTURE or the GREAT VANISHING. It all goes to the heart of Daniel’s 70^th week, which appears to encompass THE HOUR OF TEMPTATION or TRIAL and the HOUR OF JUDGMENT. Daniel is all about ISRAEL, and thy Holy City and Thy people. It is when the Lord takes up Israel once again. Hence after Chapter Three in Revelation, the Church is not mentioned again. It appears to have been REMOVED.

STAND:

G2476

ἵστημι – histēmi – his’-tay-mee

A prolonged form of a primary word στάω staō (of the same meaning, and used for it in certain tenses); to stand (transitively or intransitively), used in various applications (literally or figuratively): – abide, appoint, bring, continue, covenant, establish, hold up, lay, present, set (up), stanch, stand (by, forth, still, up). Compare G5087.

BEFORE:

G1715

ἔμπροσθεν – emprosthen – em’-pros-then

From G1722 and G4314; in front of (in place [literally or figuratively] or time): – against, at, before, (in presence, sight) of.

When does one STAND BEFORE the Son of Man? At REGENERATION, AT REBIRTH. When a soul has COME TO THE LIGHT OF TRUTH AND HAD THEIR DEEDS REPROVED. This proves out everything that has gone before, for if one is OBEDIENT and they ASK, SEEK, KNOCK, STRIVE, LABOR and CONTINUE, they will STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN and be judged by the LIGHT OF DIVINE LOVE.

So, if one will NOT accept what God says, he/she will DIE IN THEIR SINS. On the other hand, if ONE DILIGENTLY SEEKS OUT CHRIST, HE/SHE WILL FIND HIM. That’s the PROMISE, and it is a steadfast promise. Do you have the faith to continue no matter what even to the last breath? IF SO, JESUS WILL NEVER TURN YOU DOWN. NOT EVER, NOT EVER.
