Whose Church is True? Why are We Fighting About This? It’s Time to Come Together!
In a world filled with diverse beliefs and denominations, religious divisions have often led to conflict, misunderstanding, and even hostility. Yet, at the heart of Christianity is a call to unity, love, and peace—values taught and exemplified by Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ, how can we bridge the gaps between different faith traditions and focus on what unites us rather than what separates us?
Christ’s Call for Unity
Jesus prayed for unity among His followers, saying, “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:21). His desire was not for division but for His followers to be united in love and truth. Unfortunately, over time, theological differences, cultural traditions, and historical events have created barriers among believers.
Focusing on What Unites Us
Instead of dwelling on doctrinal disagreements, we can focus on the core beliefs that all Christians share:
- Jesus is Lord – Regardless of denomination, all Christians believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the world.
- The Power of the Gospel – The message of salvation through faith in Christ is at the center of Christianity.
- Love God and Love Others – Jesus emphasized that the greatest commandments are to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).
- The Call to Serve – Christians are called to help the poor, the needy, and the broken-hearted, demonstrating the love of Christ through action.
- Embracing Differences with Love
Disagreements will always exist, but they don’t have to lead to division. Paul wrote, “Let all that you do be done with love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14). Instead of arguing over differences, we can:
- Listen with an open heart – Seek to understand others rather than just to prove a point.
- Show respect – Even when we disagree, we can treat each other with kindness and dignity.
- Find common ground – Work together in areas where we share a mission, such as charity work, bringing others to Christ, and community service.
The Power of Unity in Christ
When Christians unite in love and purpose, the world sees the true nature of Christ. Division weakens our witness, but unity strengthens it. As Jesus said, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35). Our love and unity are what set us apart as His followers.
There has never been a greater time for all of us to come together more than in these Last Days. The battle at hand is not to be Christian against Christian, yet, Good vs Evil. If someone is in another Christian church and is doing well, our efforts should not be to drive them out of that church with historical topics that might prove their church to be false. We need to love one another and gear our mindset to unity, protection of one another, and assistance in keeping each other strong during this Tribulation Period.
We can spend our time wisely in seeking out those who do not know Jesus Christ, and share the message of His life, atoning sacrifice, repentance, and the joy and peace that He can bring us through this troubled time. We can certainly all unite in this effort, can’t we?
Let me share something with you that will help you let go of the feelings some might have in proving that someone else’s church is true or not true.
Jesus Christ is TRUE. His gospel, what He taught us while upon the earth is TRUE. Repentance, baptism and forgiveness… ALL TRUE. We share these truths.
When we all die, we will see that there is only one God, who is the God for ALL people. There will only be one plan that has already been set up by God as to what happens after death. One truth. One reality.
What is and what will be truth, is not influenced by popularity, or even by someone loudly outspoken about what they believe. The truth has already been established by God Himself, regardless what anyone believes. Our belief never changes the truth, rather, it should be changing us for the better.
I’m quite certain to say that when we all cross over to the other side, we will be surprised at some of the things that we see as truth. None of us have a perfect understanding of things beyond this earth life. There are many who might know bits and pieces due to scripture, as well as personal experiences, but the veil has been placed preventing a perfect knowledge of all eternal things. There are some things that we simply do not know, but will find out later.
I’m also quite certain that as we are all together after death, observing everything that God has planned for us, that we will hear whisperings from many if not all of us saying… “Wow…this isn’t what I was taught!” There will be some things that we were taught which are true, and other things that we thought were true that may not be so. But, it will all be the same truth for everyone, regardless of their beliefs on this earthlife.
Understanding this can calm us all down while here on this earth. If you have been battling with someone else of a different Christian faith, you can cease that battle, knowing that truth itself will settle your debate when we cross over. We will all come to know the same thing.
Upon death, we will not be instructed to enter a separate line based upon our believes. This line for Christians, another for Jewish people, and the one over there for Muslims. There will be just one line for all of God’s people… regardless of what one believes. This is why it is so important to teach others about Jesus Christ right now.
Over the past two years, I have spent a great deal of time with people that have left a certain church, because of some findings that they have discovered about their religion. I got involved to try to assist them in the healing, from the betrayal that they were feeling.
What was very interesting to me is that many people who left this church also left GOD. They threw everything that they had been taught about Jesus Christ out the window, and believed nothing. They were clearly headed in the wrong direction…Away from Christ. Was this the correct move, to lose it all?
If someone is doing great in their Christian church, we are doing a disservice by trying to pull them away from Jesus Christ, regardless of the things that we find. The people that I had delt with, I feel, would have been better off staying in a church that was not “perfect” in their eyes, rather than give it all away and become atheist. I get the betrayal aspect, I really do. It hurts deeply to be so intimately deceived, and I’m certain that God will hold those who deceive others responsible. However, it is not worth losing your testimony of Jesus Christ and using His atoning sacrifice to become clean and live a good life.
I must say that through my studies about various Christian religions, there are untruths in every religion that I have studied. Why is that? It’s because religion is influenced by the interpretation of mankind, and each church has their own agenda. This is also sometimes influenced by financial motivations of the leaders of the church. And, I must state that the adversary is trying to infiltrate every Christian church from within to accomplish his agenda as well…Deception.
So, why must we claim that a certain church is TRUE? Our testimony of truth should be centered upon Jesus Christ and His gospel teachings. By doing this, we can overlook the imperfections of a church, for it is not with a church that we develop our core testimony. It is of Jesus Christ.
Not doing this is what caused the disastrous consequences of people leaving a church and walking away from all of what they have been taught about the Savior. “If their church was the only true church, and it has been proven that the church’s teaching includes false information to fit a narrative, then there must not be any truth that they can trust!” Do you see the danger there?
It is time to come together Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Know that churches are imperfect. Center your testimony on Jesus Christ and not a church. Let the church bring you closer to the Savior. If it is doing that, stay in that church regardless of the imperfections that you find. If that church is not helping you be more Christlike, find one that will help you do that. There is a benefit of surrounding yourself with other Christians, using this as a means of support and growth.
Conclusion
Overcoming religious divisions starts with a heart transformed by Christ. Instead of seeing other denominations or faith traditions as opponents, we can see them as fellow seekers of God’s truth. By focusing on love, respect, and the mission of spreading the Gospel, we fulfill Christ’s desire for unity. Let us strive to be peacemakers, bridge-builders, and ambassadors of His love.
Together, we can stand strong against the fiery darts of the adversary. Together we can endure the deceptive tricks that he has planned to lead us away from Jesus Christ.
Commend one another for following Christ. Share in the Joy that His gospel brings to our lives. Seek out those who do not know the Savior, for there are many. Let our focus be in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are struggling to find their way in the darkness of life. It just feels like the right things to do, doesn’t it? Let’s do it!
