Chicago White Sox get at least one positive piece of injury news

MLB: Spring Training Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Dodgers

The Chicago White Sox finally ended their eight-game losing streak when they beat the Boston Red Sox 11-1 in game one of a three-game set, which will feature Garrett Crochet returning to Chicago.

The White Sox needed a win after getting mauled by other teams and having injury after injury knock them back when they tried to leap forward.

Thankfully, the White Sox can sustain these injuries, as they have good depth players who can fill in till Andrew Benintendi, Korey Lee, and Mike Tauchman return.

One of those depth pieces, infielder Bryan Ramos, was recently reinstated from the injured list after dealing with a right elbow strain since the middle of spring training.

The White Sox announced on their Twitter account that they have reinstated Ramos from the injured list and decided to option him down to Triple-A Charlotte, where he should slide into the infield rotation and get consistent at-bats.

“The Chicago White Sox have reinstated infielder Bryan Ramos from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Class AAA Charlotte.”

General Manager Chris Getz announced that Ramos did play in a nine-inning extended spring training game on April 11th, where he played both the field and got a few at-bats.

Added infield depth

Ramos will provide the White Sox with more depth to their infield, which they’re relatively deep in.

Before going on the IL, Ramos did appear in 13 spring training games, where he had a slash line of .240/.345/.400 for an OPS of .745. The 23-year-old also added two doubles and a triple to his ledger.

Ramos did appear in 32 games for the White Sox last season, where he struggled, hitting .202/.252/.333 for an OPS of .586 in 99 at-bats (107 plate appearances).

Ramos could be the first man called up if another injury occurs to the infield or if he starts having success down and Charlotte.

If that happens, someone like Jacob Amaya, who continues to struggle at the plate, could be on the chopping block.
