Please note that the Ballot Proposal language that will appear on the November ballot is only a SUMMARY of the proposal. Unfortunately, the summaries that you will see on the ballot are generally akin to marketing platitudes that may or may not mask important details specific to the proposal. As with most things in life, the devil is in the details. If you are interested in the ACTUAL changes that will be made as a result of your vote, please visit the PETITION for each proposal which can be found at the Secretary of State Board of State Canvassers web page.

Every bill that comes before the legislature features one or more bill summaries provided by legislative analysts. Before I vote on a bill in the Senate, however, I read the ACTUAL bill. I refer to the bill summaries only if something is not clear upon reading the actual bill.

Due to the abundance of ballot proposals this election, you now have a choice to make as a citizen. Will you take the advice of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and wait to pass the bill before you see what’s inside or will you READ THE BILL before casting your vote?
