TEACHERS SUSPENDED OVER BORDER WALL COSTUMES, thousands respond with petition!
The following information published by HuffingtonPost.com:
Over a dozen Idaho elementary school teachers and staff members were suspended Saturday after the group dressed up as Mexicans and President Donald Trump’s Mexico-U.S. border wall for Halloween.
Middleton School District superintendent Dr. Josh Middleton announced during a Saturday morning school board meeting that 14 employees of the school district’s Heights Elementary school were put on paid administrative leave following the controversial costumes. After Middleton’s announcement, a statement from the school district’s board of trustees was read aloud, the Idaho Statesman reports.
“This type of behavior has no place in education and certainly is not tolerated here at Middleton School District,” the statement read.

The suspensions have drawn some backlash, however. The Hill reported that over 11,000 people have signed a petition demanding the teachers be reinstated.
More than 11,500 people as of early Monday afternoon have signed a petition on Change.org to reinstate them.
The newspaper noted that it is unclear whether the signatures are coming from from Middleton parents.
Jacquelyn Meeker, who started the petition, wrote that the situation was “blown out of proportion, as this was a team building exercise done after school with no students present or involved.”
Meeker told the newspaper that the petition was not about supporting the photos.
“We fully believe in our staff at Middleton Heights and don’t feel that this should cost the men and women involved their jobs and cause further stress to our children,” the petition states. “These men and women are a huge part of our children’s lives and the love and support they give them should not be overshadowed by what happened.”
