SCULPTURES OF THE THIRD REICH VOLUME I THE THIRD REICH’S architectural triumphs, Olympic events and trade exhibitions, were extravagantly adorned by the most stunning sculptures. These splendours have since been destroyed and their records airbrushed out of the history books by the victors of World War II. For this reason, the names and works of the greatest sculptors in history may be better known and appreciated in 2,000 years than they are today.
The staggering beauty and size of the statues, monuments, and war memorials created by Arno Breker, Fritz Klimsch, Josef Thorak, and Ernst Kunst might be forgotten without this sumptuously illustrated record of the Reich Renaissance. Here is an art that surpasses that of the greatest civilizations.
Leafing through its pages enchantingly illustrated with superb photographs and images each of which is supported by captions and biographies, Sculptures of the Third Reich Volumes I and II will leave you breathless. You will surely ask yourself, “What on earth have we destroyed?”
SCULPTURES OF THE THIRD REICH VOLUME I
SCULPTURES OF THE THIRD REICH VOLUME II When on May 8 1945 the Reich was overwhelmed by the Soviet, British and American Empires the Allies set about destroying every artwork, motif, bust, sculpture, and figurine that represented the German Reich.
The massive, systematic destruction of National Socialist artworks has since continued in accordance with the terms of the Potsdam Agreement. The Allies set about smashing countless sculptures and burning thousands of paintings. Around 8,722 artworks were plundered and shipped to military deposits in the U.S.
The Allied book-burning fest included 34,645 book titles plus every school textbook published from 1933 – 1945. Theirs was a scorched earth policy that sent a 13-year boy to the gallows for his refusal to remove a picture of Hitler from his bedroom wall.
Totally destroyed were 90 per cent of the works completed by Arno Breker, described by Aristide Maillol as a German Michelangelo. Providentially, remnants and photographs remain. Sculptures of the Third Reich Volume I and II preserve for posterity an exhaustive collection of sculptors’ biographies and over 600 images of their works.

Sculptures of the Third Reich III: Porcelain and Reich Sculptors by Michael Walsh Porcelain figurines and artefacts or bric-a-brac present one of the most challenging of the many creative arts. It is difficult if not impossible to challenge the superiority of porcelain collectables designed and produced in the Third Reich (1933 – 1945).
The material used is a hard, fine-grained, sonorous, nonporous, and usually translucent white ceramic ware that consists essentially of kaolin, quartz, and a feldspathic rock and is fired at a high temperature. It falls under three grades: hard-paste porcelain, and true porcelain. 2: soft-paste porcelain.
The celebrated German porcelain manufacturers were discovered in Berlin, Meissen and Dresden. The quality of these companies’ products conquered the world of elegance and unsurpassed quality of their products since the heyday of the Baroque era when the German princes founded the first examples of porcelain or ceramic production.
The highest quality and beauty of true works of art were produced in Allach. Such was the outstanding quality of the company’s products that they came to the attention of the highest and most influential of those involved in the cultural renaissance of National Socialist Germany. The parties interested included the SS (Schutzstaffel). The company was included in the Main Department of Administration and Economics in 1939.
The Allach official founding members were: Franz Nagy as a company director, Theodor Kärner as a sculptor, Karl Diebitsch as a painter, and Bruno Galke as a trading agent. They were Germany’s most prestigious artists in porcelain. Theodor Kärner also worked at factories Meissen, Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther.
Other highly acclaimed artists worked with porcelain: Richard Förster, Ottmar Obermaier, Prof. Benno von Arndt, Prof. Wilhelm Krieger, Prof. Willy Zügel, Adolf Röhring, Wilhelm Neuhäuser and others.
