José Ángel Canobbio Inzunza ‘El Güerito,’ a principal member of the ‘Los Chapitos’ faction of the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS), was captured on February 19th during a joint operation by personnel of the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Guard with the involvement of the Navy, Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the Attorney General’s Office in the Las Quintas community of Culiacán, Sinaloa.
According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, security forces would follow the movements of Inzunza and in a coordinated effort would stop the criminal figure before confirming his identity and executing the arrest. During the operation authorities would seize firearms, tactical equipment, cash and an unknown illegal substance.
Inzunza is currently being transported by air to the facilities of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in Mexico City, Mexico to undergo processing, no confirmation has been made regarding what charges he will face at the moment.
