As things stand today, the Trump administration is succeeding in controlling immigration in everything but mass deportations. Congress passed the Laken Riley Act. Illegal immigration has crashed to zero at the border. DOJ is suing states like New York and Illinois for failing to cooperate with ICE. Latin American nations like Mexico, Panama and Venezuela have been brought to heel. GITMO has been converted into a detention camp for illegal aliens. The messaging, optics and show business of immigration enforcement coming out of DHS has been good. We want to encourage these people to self deport.
In order to achieve mass deportations, Congress is going to have to dramatically beef up ICE in the upcoming reconciliation bill being negotiated in the House and Senate. The organization is currently too small to deport millions of people. There aren’t enough agents or detention centers. For once, the political will to deport millions of people exists, but we lack the capacity to do it.
I want to see thousands of illegal aliens in chains marching into cargo planes and taking off to destinations around the world. I want to see this every day. Above all else, the Supreme Court needs to end birthright citizenship and Congress needs to make it impossible for them to live here for most will cut their losses and self deport on their own back to their home countries.
