Health-2025-2: Jack Lafountain - Healing Mind, Body, Soul...

[This is now going to be my, every B4IN article, standard opening (as of Dec. 19, 2024):
I get it, I really do, all these outlets are operating as a business… And how do they make money? Advertising! (more continues: /media/2024/07/click-bait-here-click-bait-there-everywhere-click-bait-2515961.html )
Yes, sorry, frankly I TOO find especially the initial Ads (they pile up, to be able to get them viewed in case someone doesn't read the whole article) here interrupting a nice/natural Read flow and are ANNOYING (but it keeps the Site FREE FOR VIEWING no Pay Wall to have to BUY your way past) and conversely their annoyance may indeed keep some from wanting to bother (so, Please, there is some GREAT CONTENT here on B4IN, keep reading the entire pieces despite the annoying Ads) and note if you engage an AD BLOCKER often I have found it/they can cause issues with seeing all the intended article content --- don't want you to miss any of mine, nor anyone else who posts here entire content as intended! The authors images (some or all), videos (some or all), their intended cross-reference links (vs Site produced Ad links, the easy Share-At/On buttons, and more, might also get "blocked" from viewing. And so now, to catch any NEW Readers, I too adding to annoyance having to repeat this over and over. My apologies. I endeavor to always give you DETAILED WRITINGS (and cross-reference related links with other rabbit-holes you can go down) hopefully you'll deem worthy of putting up with the annoying Ads to engage in/with.
I am NOT fond of the changes, but I have been with B4IN a long time now - certainly not looking to leave.
Lastly, note: I also wrote for TheLibertyBeacon (https://www.thelibertybeacon.com/?s=Joseph+M+Lenard), where I dropped pieces (normally weekly) on Saturdays for the last 3 years (and even RedState back when) and now joined and dropping pieces via SUBSTACK (https://tinyurl.com/JLDonSubstack).]

Healing Mind, Body, and Soul: Insights from Jack Lafountain

TLDR   In this blog post, we explore the conversation between Joseph M. Lenard and Jack Lafountain, focusing on the interconnectedness of mental, physical, and spiritual health. Lafountain shares his journey from military service to ministry and nursing, emphasizing the importance of holistic healing and the role of personal choice in health care.

In a recent episode of the Constitutional Politics Podcast, host Joseph M. Lenard welcomed Jack Lafountain, a retired ordained minister and registered nurse, to discuss the intricate relationship between mental, physical, and spiritual health. This conversation is particularly relevant as we navigate the complexities of health in today’s society.

Podcast Structure Changes

Before diving into the discussion, Lenard announced a shift in the podcast’s schedule for last 2 weeks of February 2025, featuring two guest drops each week. This change aims to focus on health-related topics, culminating in a series of discussions that connect mental and physical well-being.

Meet Jack Lafountain

Jack Lafountain, who describes himself as a retired ordained minister, has a rich background that includes military service, nursing, and teaching. He was born in California and joined the Air Force at the age of 17. After serving, he transitioned into ministry and nursing, ultimately becoming a hospice chaplain. Lafountain’s diverse experiences have shaped his understanding of health and healing.

The Importance of Holistic Healing

Lafountain emphasizes that healing should encompass the mind, body, and soul. He believes that these three aspects are interconnected and influence one another. His approach to health care is not just about treating physical ailments but also addressing spiritual needs, especially in hospice care where patients often confront their mortality.

The Journey into Nursing and Ministry

Lafountain’s journey into nursing began while he was still active in ministry. He felt a calling to not only provide spiritual support but also to engage in the physical care of patients. This led him to nursing school, where he graduated in 1993. His experience as a hospice chaplain allowed him to witness firsthand the profound impact of spiritual care on patients’ well-being.

Navigating Spiritual Conversations in Health Care

During the podcast, Lenard asked Lafountain about the challenges he faced when discussing spiritual healing with patients. Lafountain shared that he often had to gauge a patient’s openness to spiritual discussions, especially in critical situations. He noted that many individuals, particularly those nearing the end of life, become more receptive to spiritual conversations as they reflect on their lives and the afterlife.

The Role of Personal Choice in Health Care

A significant theme in Lafountain’s narrative is the importance of personal choice in health care decisions. He recounted an experience where he facilitated a patient’s decision to leave the hospital to die at home, highlighting the value of quality of life over mere longevity. This story underscores the need for health care providers to respect patients’ wishes and support them in making informed choices about their care.

Writing and Publishing Journey

In addition to his work in health care, Lafountain is also an accomplished author with 20 published books. He shared insights into his writing journey, which began in college when a professor encouraged him to pursue storytelling. His latest book, part of a series inspired by his love of werewolves, reflects his creative endeavors and passion for writing.

The Evolution of Publishing

Lafountain discussed the evolution of publishing, particularly the rise of self-publishing. He noted that while self-publishing offers authors control over their work, traditional publishing can provide valuable support in editing and marketing. He emphasized the importance of quality in book covers and content, as these elements significantly impact a book’s success.

The Intersection of Politics and Health

The conversation also touched on the intersection of politics and health care. Lafountain expressed concerns about the growing influence of government agencies in health care decisions, advocating for a return to individual choice and state rights. He believes that the original intent of the Constitution was to empower states to make decisions that best serve their communities.

Conclusion

Jack Lafountain’s insights into the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul provide a compelling perspective on health care. His journey from military service to ministry and nursing illustrates the importance of holistic healing and the need for compassionate care. As we continue to navigate the complexities of health in society, Lafountain’s message serves as a reminder of the profound impact of addressing all aspects of a person’s well-being.
